Light Object

A practice rooted in the exploration of natural processes and the transformative power of materials. Like an alchemist, Ster transforms, extracts or fuses this chemistry. They extract pigment from plants, melt sand into glass, and transform rust into dripping red forms in glass. Ster inspires a sense of wonder in their audience for the non-human nature. â€‹â€‹

Golden Dots

This impressive artwork was made from the wool of Claudy's own herd of Drenth Hearth Sheep.  Coloured with her famous plant based dyes.

An ode to vibrant nature. If we are to honor the natural world by allowing its biodiversity to flourish, we can witness its restoration. In doing so, we can rejoice and celebrate the glory of nature.

The Making of Eternity

See how Tomáš collaborated with 60.000 honeybees to create this sculpture. The 3D models created by the artist are used by the bees to accordingly build their honeycomb structures around.  An extremely fragile artwork, yet beeswax is one the most durable natural materials and will last thousands of years.

Detuning Tipping Points

In this performance film—that premieres at Roots Exhibition Milano— Theo shows tat a melody takes a variety of notes to exist, just as life depends on a diversity of forms to flourish. Both music and nature weave their beauty from diversity, harmony and balance. Force them beyond their limits and they unravel into chaos. A string broke; an ecosystem silenced.

Farming Textiles

The refined lace technique exposes the special tissues that arise as the result of natural growth processes. The roots are grown in a pattern designed by Diana, prompting reflection on the possibilities and limitations we as humans have to control nature. At the same time, it makes us pause to consider the current disrupted relationship between humans and nature.

Milah van Zuilen

Compilation of Leaves

The artist and ecologist is focused on the landscape and intrigued by the contradiction between its complexity and people’s urge to neatly arrange, change and organise it. Milah investigates an earth-centric way of looking at it. Van Zuilen works with real plant material, sculpture and installation. strives to bring the fields of art and ecology closer to each other.

herman de vries

Earth Rubbings

The Dutch visual artist writes his name in lowercase to avoid hierarchies. Herman works extensively with natural and found materials, focusing on concepts like being and reality. Rather than intellectualizing these ideas, he emphasizes sensory experience. Viewing nature as our primary reality, he presents it as a document—stripped of added meanings—allowing viewers to discover the poetry of existence.
